Root canal treatments
A root canal treatment is a routine procedure that requires special skills.
Root canal treatments are routine in every dentistry clinic. Still, they should be performed by a specialist, for the protection of your own teeth. At Dr. Ackerman’s Dental Clinic, we explain the importance of this procedure.
Root canal treatments
Caries can hurt your teeth and cause decay. At first, the damage spreads only on the upper level of the tooth, but unless removed, it can penetrate inside. As the enamel layer around the tooth is damaged, the decay penetrates, affecting the soft pulp area of the tooth, which is filled with connective tissue containing blood vessels and nerves. From here the way to the root of the tooth is short.
In such case, the infection should be removed from the root of the tooth. A standard filling is no longer useful, as the degeneration has already settled in. The only solution is a root canal treatment.
Root canal procedure
Before a root canal treatment, the tooth is anesthetized. With the anesthesia, the dentist can clean the root canals and remove the infection from the roots. Once that the cleaning is done, the open canals are sealed so that new infection does not penetrate.
After root canal treatment, teeth tend to be weak. A dental crown is needed to keep their stability.
Root canal treatments should only be done by a specialist!
Root canal treatments require preciseness. The small canals of the teeth need to be reached and worked very gently and carefuly. Many times, the dentist cannot perform adequately, and some root canal treatments tend to fail. The patient soon feels pain in the treated area, where a secondary infection appears.
Root canal treatments should be done by an experienced specialist. Dr. Ackerman’s Dental Clinic employs a team of specialized dentists, some of which are experienced in root canal treatments, and can provide the highest level of service.
